שר החוץ של איראן מוטאקי נועד עם עמיתו הפאקיסטני שאח מחמוד קוראשי ביום שישי בעיר איסלאמבאד. הוא הצהיר כי הבעיות של אפגניסטאן לא יפתרו באמצעות מיליטאריזם וכי העולם הבין שהפתרון הוא דיאלוג , וגישה המותאמת לאיזור.
הוא הזהיר כי "טרוריזם וקיצוניות לא ימשיכו בשלטונם באיזור ולאור זאת ניתן לצפות כי כוחות מסויימים ימשיכו לנוע במדיניות שכבר הובסה, ינועו באותו הנתיב". בהתייחסו להשפעה השלילית של המשבר באפגניסטן על היציבות האיזורית, אמר מוטאקי כי במישור הזה חלקה של איראן יהיה כרוך במימוש יכולות ההשפעה שלה על האיזור במטרה להתמודד עם הבעיה. הוא הוסיף שתקוותו היא שאיראן, פאקיסטן ואפגניסטאן יוסיפו להיוועד במטרה לפתור את הבעיה. קוארשי הוסיף מצידו הדגשה כי אימוץ גישה המותאמת לאיזור חיונית לפתרון המשבר של אפגניסטן.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmoud Qureshi Saturday in Islamabad said, some presumed that Afghanistan’s problem will be resolved through militarism but the world has realized now that the solution to the issue is dialogue and regional approach.
He then warned, “terrorism and extremism will not merely remain in the region therefore certain powers will continue the previous defeated policies through moving on this path.”
Referring to the negative impact of Afghanistan’s crisis on the region including instability and insecurity, Mottaki noted that Iran’s stance in this regard is employing regional capacities to eradicate the problem.
He also hoped Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan’s meeting will aid sorting the problem.
Qureshi, for his part, insisted on the necessity of adopting a regional approach to resolve Afghanistan’s crisis
